Our new home

We moved out of a house and town that I LOVE, to a new home and a new town which lets just say has taken some time to get used to. A very wise friend told us that no matter what the uncertainty of our situation we have a permanent home in heaven with our Savior. After weeks of living in the new home, we had a particular night, that at least for me, that made it feel a little more like home. A day in the life in our new home....

Brooklyn's Three!

Her Birthday started out with Nate making oatmeal pancakes, which Brooklyn loves.

Uncle Haden and Auntie Char Char came and watched the kids for a couple hours. They blew bubbles, played with chalk, and had a great ol' time

We took a trip in June to Nate's parents house. As always it was filled with fun!

I had the honor of throwing a baby shower with Laura and Sandy for Bri and her baby girl. We had so much fun preparing for the shower and it turned out to be a really fun evening.

This was the sweets table and let me tell you it was amazing. I did not bake a thing for that table so I can say that everyone who contributed did a mighty fine job. Peanut butter & jelly cupcakes, Tammy made, pure deliciousness, a bundt cake that looked as good as it tasted, cake balls Yum!, and other little treats.

Brooklyn's First Hair Cut

Brooklyn got her very first hair cut. Larissa had the little girls lined up and one by one cut there golden locks. Just a little off the ends, a much needed trim. Brooklyn held very still and really enjoyed having her hair cut.

Nate's mom came into town to help me clean/organize. We had to keep reminding each other that it gets worse before it gets better. You clean one thing and it leads to another and so on. We got a ton done and I am sooooo thankful for the help. Trying to clean out the pantry with two little kids climbing up your leg proves to make for a log process that never quite gets done. So with Janet's help this place is looking spic-n-span!

Janet took Brooklyn to Borders Book Store, they were having a little craft thing and Brooklyn came home like this. Pretty cute.

Nate and Kellen went to the Barber Shop to get their usual haircut, so we thought we would take Trent along for the ride to get a haircut of his own. His hair doesn't look so bad in this before picture but his hair was long and curly and just about every stranger that we came across called him a girl, so I knew it was time to let go of the baby look and get a big boy hair cut.

I love the message of Easter. We are always looking for a big story and what a big story Easter shares of Christ death and resurrection. He died the death of the most wicked of criminals, yet no fault was found in Him. But there He hung for our sins, yet the grave could not hold him down...the tomb was empty and in all Christ's glory he was raised only to one day return to bring us home with Him. What victory we have in Jesus, our Savior Forever!!!

Our first trip to Disneyland... I did not know what to expect with the kids but they LOVED it. We will start from the beginning. Auntie Lacey bought Brooklyn a Tinker Bell outfit and Trenton his first Mickey Shirt. With their great outfits we packed the kids into the car and headed to Disney Land...

Trent on the trolley ride into the park...he was very excited. It was his actual 1st b-day, April, 17. I must not forget his mouse ears in his hand, which he actually wore for a while.

Trenton's First Birthday

We went down to Cali to see the Brueggeman's and had a magical time. We visited the happiest place on earth, Disney Land! Lacey decorated all things Mickey for Trent's first b-day it was AWESOME!!! So to the little guy that can't help but make you smile, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRENT!!! We love you TONS.

Lacey made the Mickey Carmel Apples. Not only were the adorable they tasted amazing!

The Birthday boy and his Mickey Ears! He had a Mickey shirt Lacey bought him, he wore it to Disneyland earlier in the day and trent and the shirt needed a bath at the end of the day. So for this picture his Mickey Ears will have to do.

Charlotte's Wedding Shower!

My mom, Aunt Karla, and cousin Logan and I threw a wedding shower for my soon to be sister-in-law, Charlotte. We had a lot of fun doing it for her and all in all in turned out very nice. We are excited to have Charlotte in our family. Wedding Date: June 18th, 2011. Soon to be Haden & Charlotte Gienger. I hope they have a boy(someday no pressure seriously take your time) or the Gienger name from our family will be lost, but the Lord knows best!

Haden stopped by to participate in a game at the shower. Everyone enjoyed it and they did very well answering the questions.

I was pleased with the decorations. This pic doesn't do these branches justice. They had big beautiful white blossoms on them, it was a breath of spring, even though it is not like spring outside. The green peacocks have blue touches on them and sparkle, just can't tell in the pic.

I got these trees at Target $2.50. I sparkled the leave and covered the base in black paper, really cute. Thanks for the help Logan!

Many events or fun moments have taken place in the last few month that I just haven't gotten to. So here are a few...

It has been winter cold here in Washington and we have yet to see warmer days with showers on and off. Nope it has just been rainy and freezing. The news said we have had 10 sunny days since October. Guess we are just trying to keep our reputation on gray rainy Washington intact.

Again, thank you for the prayers for my cousin. She is home! Continued prayers for the people of Japan. An elderly man who lives in Sendai and survived was interviewed and said this of his country, " we are such an ungodly people, we are a self absorbed, materialistic people with no regard for God." So... my prayer is that through this tragedy these people will find Jesus, the One and Only!

Logan Update

Thank you for all of you who have been faithfully praying for my cousin Logan in Japan. They made it to a military base where they were given food and cots to sleep on for a few nights. Due to the mass of supplies being flown in for the emergency relief operations they are going to have to leave. She is now trying to get a flight to North Korea and from there find a flight home. Don't know all the details just continue to pray for a way home for her as quickly as possible.

A world apart, but way to close to home

We have seen the power of God through natural disasters ever since the beginning of time. While you see pictures of these horrible scenes your heart breaks for these people who have lost homes, family, and friends but I have always watched from afar. As news broke of the devastating earthquake and tsunami over in Japan my heart stopped.... My youngest cousin Logan has been teaching at Meysen Academy, closest city Sendai, the center of yesterday's devastation. All we knew as of this morning is that her sister found on one of the other teachers facebook pages that they were ok. The only problem is it was posted after the earthquake, before the tsunami hit. After that post we heard nothing. All we saw was the 23 foot wave crash into Japan miles from where she is, destroying everything in its way, so powerful it is said it will change the coast line of Japan forever. Yes new maps will have to be drawn up to change the shape and size of the island of Japan. We have waited through the day to get a better grasp on how far the tsunami water penetrated but due to it being night there it was a long wait. Tonight a dear friend of the family was searching for newspaper articles in Logan's area to find out any news on the school and she found an article that said the staff of the school is together and everyone is alive. Praise Jesus!!! Praise Jesus!!!

Things I never thought I would say I am thankful for...

1. The media-I can't stand most media news but in this case I am so grateful for a little article on a small school in Japan!

2. Facebook-people were praying for Logan all day. No I am not a member of facebook but today I like it

3. Snuggies-the first time a saw a commercial for these things I thought it was a joke. But my Aunt sent Logan one in Japan and it may be the very thing that is keeping her warm since it is now snowing and they have no electrity or power.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about ifself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."-Matthew 6:34

So in light of the fact that life is here one day and gone the next I leave you with this....

One Colorful Room!

After 5 years of praying and many many fertility visits God granted us a little girl, Brooklyn Kay. My dear friend Tammy found this sign when I first got pregnant with Brooklyn, she bought a boy one and a girl one, since we didn't find out the sex of the baby. We had my baby shower after Brooklyn was born and she surprised me with this very fitting sign...This is Brooklyn's room which many people have poured love into.

The bed I found ($20) while at a garage sale with Bri and Kim. It was ugly wood, but well made. Bri started painting it for Brooklyn, then she got pregnant so her dad Bill finished it for us. I love it and it looks so cute in her room. Now if I could just paint the walls, someday.

Nate's grandmother is a master quilter and has taught me some of her skills. She patiently taught me as we made this quilt together for Brooklyn. I think it is PERFECT and love all the colors, I love color!

Bri painted and gave this adorable chair to Brooklyn for her 2nd birthday, fits perfect!

You can't see the chandelier very well but got it at Funky Junk and it looks great in the room!

Big cozy chair that one day I will have recovered in some wonderful fabric! but the blue works quite well for now.

The little girl we sewed onto the quilt, so darling. Nate's grandma made a wall hanging to match which I plan to get a great chunky white frame to put around it someday. Keeping my eyes out..

Brooklyn loves her room. I want to make a bed skirt for the bed too. Lots of work to do, better get started one of these days

Brooklyn and I went on a golf cart ride from Grandma and Grandpa's house to the golf course to watch Nate and Fred play a couple holes that you can see from the street. It was Christmas Eve and there wasn't alot of golfers out so Nate took Brooklyn to golf the last 9 holes with them. She had so much fun!

We will start with the decorating of the Christmas tree. Brooklyn was mommies little helper!

We opened gifts with the kids before we left for California to spend Christmas with Nate's family. We got Brooklyn a tool set, yes she likes it and a Dora backpack, she LOVES it.

She wore it to the airport, the whole plane ride, to Grandma's house and longer. She never took it off. Not the whole day. Waiting in line to get on the plane, such a big girl!

Don't let this cute little picture fool you. Trent did not like the plane. We have taken many airplane rides with him and never a problem, but this time, O this time, was not pleasant. Yes my kid was THAT kid on the plane.

At the Grandparents house....Praise the Lord! Kisses from Grandpa. Yes, even after the plane ride, he is as sweet as pie!

The cousins first look at each other for the trip. We had a big get together at Uncle Richard and Aunt Vicki's house with lots and lots of family. It was a blast.

Lacey is hooked on puzzles so we went and bought one. The whole time she was like this puzzle is going to be to easy, the pieces are to big. It was not easy at all. but we conquered it! Funny story... Thanksgiving night Toys R Us started their black Friday sale at 10pm. Lacey was like lets go check it out. I was being a party poop er but she got me out of the house. As we are driving to the store there is this line of people going over the freeway over pass, down the back of the stores, around the side of Toys R Us and up the front, police cars were present making sure not to many people entered the store at once. CRAZY, we were laughing, go check it out if you want to wait in line for 3 hours just to get into the store. never shopped black friday and probably never will.

I am coaching basketball at Rogers High School with Bri, Amy, and Jessie. Amy put together a version of The Amazing Race for the Varsity girls; one stop of the race was at my house. They had to put together a tutu, hair clip, and decorate a shirt for Brooklyn to wear to the games. The team who arrived 2nd at my house left first. And the 3rd place team(3 teams total) at my house finished 1st!!! Brooklyn loved helping me get ready for "The Girls" to come over. Once they left she had a little fun in the puff paints.

Bri and Phil invited us to The Cabin. No kids, just Phil, Bri, Nate and I. We said goodbye to the kids(thanks Mom and Dad)around 5pm and hit the road. We stopped in Buckley for a dinner, went to the grocery store for some breakfast items and of course a few treats. Got Starbucks and went through McDonald's for me to have a little ice cream and headed up the mountain. We sat and talked and read magazines by the fire. Played scrabble, never played and it was really fun. The next morning we did the same all over with a walk to the river where Phil had made a tepee a year or two ago and it was still standing! Thank you Bri and Phil for a wonderful time!!!

Our Halloween journey started at some friends house for a little get together with all the kids. They had fun playing with the toys and each other. Cami was not a witch but she really liked this hat and I couldn't resist this picture of her!

Marcus (David and Erica McNicols little guy for those who know them) lives in our neighborhood so Brooklyn went out trick or treating with them. It was a blast.

Funky Junk Finds and Friends

I had to post my Funky Junk finds because, one I love them, and two I have to make sure you girls remember how much fun we had so that you all come and stay with me again and go this spring. It was the best one yet in my opinion, and I am not saying this because they are my friends but, Bri and the girls had the best booth in the whole place. They had two spots this time and double the treasures. I am now really regretting not buying this console/end table thing from them. I was trying to have self control and see everything first and of course it sold. But what I did find was this incredible table and chairs for cheap cheap cheap. I have been looking for a nook table for 2 or more years now and just hadn't found anything I loved...that is until I spoted this beauty. I am still so excited. Thanks Nate, John and Karen for picking it up and bringing it to me!

Pumpkin Carving Party

I had my junior high volleyball girls over for a harvest party. Once again my friend Bri helped me create one fun party!!! I have been blessed this year by 9 girls who are so joyful. They are innocent without being naive, which I am finding is rare these days. Everyday I was greeted with huge smiles and lots of good laughs.

This is Victoria who definitely had the most difficult pumpkin! What patience and precision she had! Here is the before and after.

Pioneer Woman Mac-N-Chesse Craziness

Fall is here and in the air. The sun is setting early in the evening to clear, crisp cold nights. I just love fall days and nights. The kids get bundled up and play outside and then when mom calls them in for the evening we take walks in the dark night sky with our family. What a wonderful time of year.

We are still able to take bike rides, which Brooklyn loves, we better get them in now because winter is fast approaching.

Ok so you may be wondering what this pic is all about...Bri, Tammy, and Karen brought me this cook book signed by the pioneer woman on the day I delivered Trenton. I was suppose to go with them to the book signing but Trenton decided to come a week early. Needless to say I have not cooked one recipe out of it since that time. I have had a lot of her things because my friends are great cooks and love her recipes. The cook book has been sitting on my cook book holder for over 5 months now so Nate took it upon himself to check it out. He has made the pancakes, Marlboro Man's Steak sandwich, and now the mac-n-cheese. All very good by the way. But this story is about the mac-n-cheese....

Nate went to the store and bought all the ingredients to make the homemade mac-n-cheese. I came home from volleyball practice and Brooklyn and Nate were busy at work cooking. Nate had mixed all the ingredients together that were listed on the recipe. Brooklyn was busy with her noodles and salt and pepper. I look over at Nate and he says to me, "I didn't read the directions first." Ok I was thinking, what does that mean? He said I didn't cook the macaroni first. We both start dieing laughing. He tried to pick it all out to see if he could salvage it but no it was long gone. So thanks to living in town, good thing we don't live out in the country like the Pioneer Woman, Nate went back to the store determined to conquer the mac n cheese. He did and it came out wonderful!

I added this picture because since Brooklyn could eat food I have tried and tried to get her to eat noodles. I have tried every sauce, butter, cheese, etc and nope not having it. Now that she is two I am no longer willing to except that she can have a different meal then us at least on most occasions, so there she sat with a bowl of mac n cheese in front of her. Starring, Starring, Starring at that bowl with a look of utter confusion. With a little discussion and a mandatory lick of the noodle she proceeded to put it in her mouth and eat it, HOORAY she likes noodles, at least for the night...

Grandma's 90th B-Day at Sun River

We celebrated Nate Grandma's 90th B-Day in Sun River Oregon with all 5 of her kids, their kids, and now their kids. She is a Great Grandma to 10 little rascals. She is 90 but you would never know it, she is mom, grandma, great grandma, an amazing sewer/quilter (my home is filled with her creativity) she has inspired me to create clothes for my kids, quilts, pillows, and so much more for my home. I always think of MANY verses in Proverbs 31 when I think of her, "She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle..."vs.19 That is just one of the many godly characteristics she displays in her life I could go on...Happy Birthday Grandma!!!

Our Summer has been full! Sometimes life is full, as in just full of stuff, things to be, places to be, but this summer life has been full of all things that are good... friends, fellowship, laughter, family, and all the good gifts God gives us to enjoy in this lifetime. Dan, Cindy, Brae, Tori, and John spent a few days with us while Dan was recruiting for The Masters Basketball Team. It has become a tradition we look forward to each and every summer.

The Welch family was in Washington from Indiana vacationing with family. Kirk was Nate's youth pastor in high school. Kirk had a huge impact on Nate's life through his high school and college years and still does today. It is hard to believe he married us 10 years ago now. So anyhow, on their way to Portland they stopped by to see us. What a treat it was to see Kirk and Corrie and their four boys!

My high school volleyball team (34-0) got inducted into the Hall of Fame on June 3rd, 2010. It was a sold out crowd of over 900 people and around 35 inductees most alot older then us, but still really neat. I did not get a picture of all the girls from the team who attended, bummer, but we had a good turn out. It was fun to see them, most I had not seen since high school. We had a really fun team and our coach was even more fun. Every game we won at state he let us paint one of his fingernails. Before the state championship game he let us paint the remaining fingers. I wish I had a picture of what they looked like, each one was uniquely painted by a girl.

Rachelle and I are the second generation of State Champions & Hall of Fame inductees in our family. My dad's State Champion Basketball team was inducted last year. Lacey got close in volleyball and Haden close in football to winning state championships, what a fun run of high school sports. Dori was our amazing setter. This is her mom, dad, husband, and little 6 month old girl. Rachelle we missed you terribly we wish you could have been there. It wasn't the same without you. Dori has three kids and lives in Seattle, so I still get to see her!

We were able to make a family trip down to So Cal to visit the Brueggeman's. We knew the kids all were a little sick with runny noses but come to find out everyone had ear infections. Yep, all of them, well except Trenton. We still had tons of fun but next trip hopefully we will all be well.

Trent has had a very eventful first three weeks of life to say the least. He has already had a trip in an ambulance, been to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, had his first IV, first stiches, and lots of shots, not to mention more to come because his newborn screening came back positive for something Brooklyn came back positive for but never really had. So he will have some more tests run, but praying he doesn't have it. This is his really cute Crayola band aid at the spot of his IV. He is a trooper. We Praise the Lord for an amazing Childrens Hospital so close to home. They took such tender care of him.

It is official Anthon, Lacey, Hailey, and Tessa have moved to So. Cal. I never thought the day would actually come, but it has. So with great sadness, yet great joy for the adventure God has set before them, we bid them a see you later! I will miss Hailey and Brooklyn laughing at each other through the windows, running up and down the driveway with their strollers, eating together, hugging, pushing and everything else.

Smack dab in the middle of our little town of Puyallup boasts the 6th largest state fair in the U.S. The annual state fair is in September, but the Spring Fair is held in April. Lacey, Becky(Anthon's mom), Hailey, Tessa, Brooklyn and I decided to go on Friday due to the wonderful warm weather and a chance to get out and go see the animals and festivities of the fair. That is when it all started... the dreaded yet welcomed CONTRACTIONS! Less than 24 hours later...Trenton!!! Trenton was born on Saturday, April 17th, at 2:47pm. Coming one week before his due date; he weighed 7lbs 6ounces, 20 1/2" long.

I posted these pictures backwards, don't know how to fix it so we will start with the end of day 2. Relaxing at Home.

Brooklyn is quite interested and taken by her new baby brother. She likes to touch him, hug him, and check out all his features. Nose, eyes, mouth, cheecks, belly button(she is not quite sure about it yet) and on and on.

We had a very nice and relaxing Easter Sunday. After a great church service, we went home and took a nap, then headed out to my parents for Easter lunch/dinner.

It is no secret I am ready for spring! I have six weeks to go (give or take) before baby #2 arrives and I have lost my "do everything without complaining..." attitude. I am officially tired of being sick (don't let anyone tell you it gets better after the first trimester because for me it doesn't, and if it does for you then count your blessings) i am tired of cold and rain, I am tired of viruses and colds, and to be honest I am just tired. I don't remember being this tired with Brooklyn. Ok now that I have officially complained to the point that you want to stop reading this post. Nothing is ever as bad as seems, and YES God's grace is sufficient and AMAZING, so moving on...

I took Brooklyn down to the local flower farm on a day it wasn't raining, at least for a moment, and took some amature pictures. The tulips aren't in bloom yet, that is when it really gets beautiful, but it was a good way to get out of the house, Brooklyn LOVES being outside.

This is the cutest outfit that Brooklyn's auntie Laurel bought her. It is the perfect spring outfit and makes her eyes look piercingly blue!

Grandpa and Gigi Whittington came last weekend for a visit. We didn't do anything out of the ordinary but Brooklyn loved having them. They colored, went to the park, played, and of course the guys golfed! She woke up from her naps the two days after they left and would say Gigi? Papa?

My sister Rachelle and her family came from Idaho to celebrate her husband JB's dads retirement, so we got to visit them. It is amazing how fast kids grow. The kids had lots of fun playing together. Brooklyn loves to follow the big kids around. I had to laugh because Lauren just over 1 year, holding baby Tessa in the picture is a crack up. Brooklyn won't smile for the camera, ever, and Hailey could care less, but here is little Lauren.. you say smile and point the camera at her and she grins from ear to ear, posing for the camera holding her baby cousin. She is totally my sisters daughter, rachelle used to put us younger kids is cheesy poses and take pictures of us, I love it!

Cousin Blaire!!!

I do not have any pictures of our new cousin Blaire but this is pitures of the shower Ashley threw for Laurel in honor of baby Blaire. Nate, Brooklyn and I went down to the Whittington's to celebrate with them and also finish Brooklyn's big girl bed quilt. The shower was in January and Baby Blaire was born 2/14/10, on Valentine's Day, what a sweetheart. She was 8 lbs. We can't wait to meet her, but will probably have to wait until July. The shower was really beautiful. Ashley made everything and it was like a pink and silver dream. Laurel is standing by Grandma Boesiger who made her the wall hanging they are holding for Blaire's bedroom. The picture above that, is Laurel and her sister with all the fun gifts.
